ABCT Conference: Increasing the Joy of Delivering CBT
Implementing a new mental health program during the pandemic is not an easy task. But thanks to our amazing team and partners, we have gone from launching the OSP program in 2022 to a full-fledged team that works hard to support communities in the Brampton, Halton, Mississauga, and South Etobicoke region.
Dr. Nancy Bahl, our Equity & Clinical Consultant and Psychologist, recently showcased this journey in a research poster at the Annual Conference for the Association for Behavioral & Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) in Seattle.
The poster highlighted some of our initial implementation challenges, and how we worked through these to increase the joy of delivering cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to our clients.

Clinician Support
A foundational part of the OSP model is the role of clinical consultation and support. This includes:
- coaching clinicians within an anti-oppressive anti-racist framework
- supporting them in managing microaggressions from clients
- addressing anxiety in using trauma-focused treatments
- clinician wellness and fostering time for connection
It was a particular highlight, and moment of joy, for our network to meet in person at our annual retreat for some time to connect and to celebrate our achievements.
Note: While CarePoint Health was pleased to partially support Dr. Bahl’s participation at this conference, much of her participation was self-funded. We thank Dr. Bahl for her commitment to learning and knowledge sharing with her peers.
